Brant Makes 33 Saves in Final Raiders Game

by Romano Di Franco,

The Nepean Raiders made it back to the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena for the last time this season as they played host to the Kemptville 73s. Both teams were coming off victories from their previous games. For instance, Nepean came off a fantastic 4-1 outing in Hawkesbury and Kemptville creamed the Pembroke Lumber Kings 15-0.

For the starting goalies, Keagen Carswell got the start for the 73s and Otsirakatste Brant made his last appearance of the season.

Travis Ouellette and Lucas Achim opened the scoring for the 73s. Despite being outshot 12-10 in the first period, Brant was dynamite stopping 8 of the 10 shots he faced in that period.

Although, Gavin McDougall made the score 3-0, Nepean’s goalie Otsirakatste Brant was once again lights out for Nepean as he made 12 of 13 saves in that period alone. If that’s not enough, the Raiders killed off a long five minute major penalty to Karsten Barbeau.

Despite the fact there were no goals to report in the third period, both goalies were at their best with Brant making an overall 33 saves of the game which was a great way to cap off Nepean’s season.

For the first star selection, for his 27 save efforts Keegan Carswell was named the first star of the game for the 73s, having made 33 of the 36 saves in the game, Otsirakatste Brant was named the second star of the game for the Nepean Raiders and for the game winning goal it was Lucas Achim that was named the third star of the game for Kemptville.

The Nepean Raiders want to sincerely thank the fans for tuning in this campaign and they will look forward to next year.
