Benoit and Williamson Score In Blowout Loss to Rockland

The Nepean Raiders returned home to the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena for their game against the number one team in the CCHL, and that is none other than the Rockland Nationals. Nepean came into this game having won three in a row with games against the Renfrew Wolves, Brockville Braves and the Ottawa Junior Senators. Meanwhile, the visiting Nationals arrived having gone 14-0-1 in their first fifteen games. For the starting goalies, the Raiders started Otsirakatste Brant in goal. Sean Hogan got the start for the Nats.

It didn’t take long for the Rockland Nationals to get on the board as Josh O’Connor and Guillaume Labre opened the scoring for the visitors.

By the end of the first period, the Nationals outshot the Raiders 15-7.

Although Rockland scored the next two goals from Dylan McDougall and Gabriel Le Houllier. The Raiders scored two goals of their own from Luka Benoit and Carter Williamson.

Despite those goals, the Rockland Nationals still outshot Nepean 23-16 in the second period.

The third period was all Rockland as they scored goals from Zachary Venance, Gabriel Le Houillier, Nolan Turnbull and Trystan Felix Tremblay.

Overall in the game, the Rockland Nationals outshot the Nepean Raiders 49-31.

As a result, Nepean’s three game winning streak came to an end while the Nats extended their unbeaten streak to sixteen games.

Penalties

The game featured multiple penalties, including a 10-minute misconduct for Danel Myloserdnyy of Rockland in the 1st period.

Rockland’s offensive power and strong performance from their top players, especially Le Houillier and O’Connor, were pivotal in their victory. Goalie Otsirakatste Brant of Nepean had a notable effort with 41 saves despite the loss.

Nepean will have time to start a new winning streak when they visit the Carleton Place Canadiens on Friday November 8th for a 7:45PM puck drop.
