The Nepean Raiders visited the North Greenville Municipal Centre for Game Three of their regular season against the Kemptville 73s. Nepean came into this game going 1-1 and also the 73s came into this game going 1-1 as well.
John Gedraitis who was fantastic in the last game against the Hawkesbury Hawks made his third straight start. Trenten Bennett was in goal for the hometown Kemptville 73s.
The Raiders got on the board first when team captain Nicolas Papineau scored his second goal of the season. Luka Benoit got the only assist. The 73 would outshoot the Raiders 16-9 in that first period, but it was John Gedraitis who kept Kemptville at bay.
The second period made things interesting. For starters, Kemptville would score two goals in a span of one minute and thirty seconds when Carter Graves and Emile Trottier scored the next two goals. As for the Nepean Raiders, they would reply back when Luka Benoit scored to tie the game at two with Masslin Etchart and John Gedraitis assisting on the goal. The Kemptville 73s would take over for the rest of the game when Emile Trottier scored his hat-trick. The only other goal scored was from Sydney Loretto.
The 73s would outshoot the Raiders 14-6 in the second period.
The third period made things interesting when Carter Graves was ejected from the game for an illegal check to the head. The Raiders would go on to outshoot Kemptville 13-11 but these aforementioned goals by the 73s would be all they needed.
For the three stars, for his second goal in as many games, Nicolas Papineau was given the game’s third star, With one goal and one assist, Carter Graves was given the games second star and with the hat-trick, Emile Trottier was given the game’s first star.
Nepean’s next game is on Sunday September 22nd when the Ottawa Junior Senators come to town at the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena for game one of their rivalary.
